SPARK! Apartments : Ribbon Cutting
Developed by Brinshore Development and constructed by Wadman Corporation, SPARK Apartments offers a range of amenities designed to support residents' well-being. These include a fitness center, two outdoor playgrounds, dog play areas with a pet wash station, and a secure parking garage equipped with electric vehicle charging stations. The complex also features ground-floor commercial space, currently home to a relocated Star of India restaurant, enhancing neighborhood vitality.
A standout feature of SPARK is its on-site, full-service childcare center operated by Neighborhood House. This facility provides high-quality early education for children aged 3–5, with fees adjusted based on family income, addressing the critical need for affordable childcare in the community.
The project was made possible through a collaborative funding effort, including $14.5 million from the Salt Lake City Community Reinvestment Agency, $1 million from the city's Housing Stability Division, and contributions from the Utah Housing Corporation, Olene Walker Housing Loan Fund, Salt Lake County, and private partners like Goldman Sachs and Citi Community Capital.
Mayor Erin Mendenhall praised SPARK as a model for future developments, emphasizing its role in creating a community where families can access affordable housing, quality childcare, and reliable public transit. The opening of SPARK Apartments not only revitalizes a previously blighted area but also sets a new standard for equitable and sustainable urban development in Salt Lake City.
Wadman Corporation is honored to have contributed to this impactful project and remains committed to building communities that support and uplift all residents.
